Materials Science Summer Institute

The Materials Science Summer Institute, MASSI, program was established in 1996 as a continuing education course by the LRSM, University of Pennsylvania, the Princeton Center for Complex Materials at Princeton University, and the Materials Research program at Rutgers University. This course is open to graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, industrial and government scientists and faculty from non-research institutions. The course is funded jointly by the National Science Foundation and industrial organizations.

Goals:

  • To offer courses in interdisciplinary materials science education.
  • To provide a stable and neutral meeting ground for researchers from industry and academia and increase the level of cooperation between the participating institutions.
  • To provide a series of computer based proceedings that summarize the lectures on advanced topics.
